The name Amy comes from the Latin word for Beloved. Elise is the shortened version of Elizabeth, which has its origins in the biblical Hebrew language and means God's Promise. Our desire is for girls to be loved, valued, and appreciated, and for God's Promise to be fulfilled in their lives.

The inspiration for Amy Elise™, Books & Dolls with a Purpose™, came from my own children. Despite all the advances made by women over the past 100 years, we still face significant challenges in our efforts to raise our daughters. Girls are asked to grow up far too fast and are confronted with a barrage of messages devoid of moral principles, which value physical appearance more than intelligence, talent, and relationships.

The fact remains as mothers we are simply trying to help our girls grow and mature and to develop a foundation of moral values that will sustain them regardless of whether they sail through life or confront difficult challenges. We believe the values that our company encourages mirror the values girls and their mothers feel are important to navigate life. Through the lens of fun and humor, our books and products focus on the basic values of kindness, generosity, courage, hope, and faith.

At Amy Elise, girls are portrayed as gifted and intelligent, and as leaders. Each girl has unique skills, abilities, and perspectives that we should all celebrate. Relationships between girls and their parents are portrayed as positive and strong, while acknowledging that conflicts and challenges do occur. Without being prescriptive, we look at faith from the girls' point of view and work to encourage them to further explore and develop their faith with the guidance and support of their parents.

In our effort to live the same Christian values as our customers, a portion of every sale is donated to a select group of faith-based charities that meet efficient business standards and whose mission supports girls, children, or families.
